Update on Project
What have we done so far?
1. Story Inc visited to Hawke’s Bay 2 days recently, and took some shots for the NZ
Pavilion at Shanghai 2010 Expo.
2. We made a choice of Hawke’s Bay chef; the plan is that he will work with the NZ
caterer during Hawke’s Bay week, and will also work in New Zealand Centre.
3. We have organised a dinner with Hawke’s Bay Regional Council’s sister city – Xuzhou
at the first day of Hawke’s Bay week.
4. We have invited each company to work with the others in their sector under a host
company lead.
5. We are seeking more activities in NZ central.
6. We are working on an electronic banner for Hawke’s Bay Companies to use to
promote Shanghai 2010 Expo.

Question & Answer
Q: How much has been funded by government to built NZ pavilion in Shanghai
Expo?
A: $30 million has been funded by government.
Q: How many people expected to visit New Zealand Pavilion over the Expo’s
six-months?
A: 40,000 people a day, mostly from China.
Q: What is the theme of the NZ pavilion at Shanghai 2010 Expo
A: Cities of nature, living between land and sky. Oceania month is August.
Q: What does NZ pavilion design include?
A: Its design includes a floating glass Perspex canopy and a roof-top garden. The
middle of the garden will feature a Rotorua-style geyser and thermal garden, and
plants will vary from those found in New Zealand’s mountainous regions to
coastal plants.
Q: How many people can fit in VIP area at NZ Pavilion?
A: VIP function area: cocktail functions for 100 people, sit down dining for up to 40
people,Seminars, exhibitions, presentations. Guests can be served tasting plates,
lunch or dinner.
VIP Formal Dining: VIP dining or meeting for 12 people, guest hospitality,
presentation, meetings.
VIP access to Visitor Experience: As part of VIP hospitality packages, and to
avoid long queues, VIP access to the New Zealand pavilion Visitor Experience
will be provided.
Q: How many countries and international organisations taking part Shanghai 2010
Expo?
A: Around 191 countries and 50 international organisations taking part.

Q: What opportunities are there, if we participate with the region during Hawke’s
Bay week at Shanghai Expo?
A: You can take your business partner have a casual chat and formal lunch or
dinner in NZ Pavilion VIP area when your sector is hosting their day. You also can
meet with your potential business partner to discuss details about your future
relationship. Guests do not need to queue. There is no cost
Q: What we can do during the rest of days of Hawke’s Bay week?
A: You can take your business partner to NZ central, for further discussion. You can
also show your products in NZ central, or have a formal meeting in NZ central.
You can go through with other sector companies to visit their business partner’s
company in China. This includes tastings, meetings, product displays and
demonstrations – there is a charge for this.
Q: Do I need to be export to China to participate?
A: No. We have organised this regional event to provide an opportunity for all
Hawke’s Bay companies interested in China or active in China to participate.
