Happy New Year!!!! Time flies! We have been busy on this project for one and half years already. On the 1st May 2010, Shanghai World Expo will open.



Welcome to Issue Four of the Shanghai 2010 Expo Newsletter. In this newsletter you will find:

Project Progress

What have we done so far?

   1. A Hawke’s Bay chef is available to work in New Zealand Central venue, and in addition, the NZ Pavilion hospitality team will provide a Hawke’s Bay based menu in the pavilion during Hawke’s Bay week.
   2. More formal dinners have been booked during Hawke’s Bay week.
   3. We have invited each company to work with the others in their sector under a host company lead.
   4. More opportunities are offered in New Zealand Central.
   5. We have created an electronic banner for Hawke’s Bay week as shown at the bottom of the page; companies involved are invited to use it on emails and letterheads.

Book early to secure your place in Shanghai:

Please ensure that you book early to attend Shanghai 2010 as this is the biggest Expo in the world. Therefore travel will be subject availability. For further details, please contact Sukie Li at Venture Hawke’s Bay.

We are working to secure a group travel deal so let us know as soon as possible by end of January.

Question & Answer

Q: Do you have a travel package should we want to participate?
A: We have a travel package available, which includes return air fares from Napier  
    to Shanghai, 10 nights accommodation in 4/5 Star hotel which include breakfast,
    transportation from airport to hotel, everyday transportation from hotel to 2010   
    Expo venue and 7 days group Expo tickets.
Q: How long does it take to travel from the accommodation to the Expo venue?
A: Please note, in non traffic jam, it is 40 minutes journey.

 
Q: What is the weather in Shanghai during Hawke’s Bay Week?
A: The temperature in Shanghai in August averages minimum 20 ํdegree –
    maximum 35 ํdegree, and is quite humid.

 
Q: Can we sell our frozen products in the retail shop outside the NZ Pavilion?
A: No. The retail shop is not able to sell frozen products during Shanghai 2010
    Expo.

 
Q: How can I find a potential business partner in China?
A: For local companies, we recommend you to talk to NZ Trade & Enterprise, they
    can provide advice. They have a base in Shanghai to help Kiwi companies who
    wish to export to or import from China.

Q: How much will it cost if we want to participate during Hawke’s Bay week?
A: The travel package is at your expense. It is free of charge to use NZ Pavilion VIP
     area including food and beverage. You have the opportunity to invite your
     business partners to have dinner in the VIP area.


Venture Hawke’s Bay and Export Hawke’s Bay re co-funding this project as a regional investment get companies wishing to do business in and with China.
