The 2009 programme concentrates and builds on three areas vital to stimulate export growth in the region; Information, Networking and Education.

• ' Export Hawke's Bay '  Breakfast - New to Export - Target Australia

One of the ways to learn to export is to have a go at the Australian market.  This breakfast features Charles Barkla of the Export Academy of New Zealand and outlines the opportunities and (modest) challenges in this market. It is a chance for prospective exporters to think about a new sales area. It is also the opportunity to meet up with seasoned exporters and exchange views on 2009 exporting.

• ' Export Hawke's Bay '  Lunch - Tony Gibbs, Turners and Growers Chairman.

Turners and Growers have substantial interests in Hawke's Bay over a long period.  They are a major distributor and exporter. New Export Hawke's Bay Chair

The Export Hawke's Bay committee has recently elected Murray Painter, Chairman GoGroup of Companies and CEO Export Academy as the Independent Chair representing Industry.

Murray has been involved in the full value chain of exporting perishable goods, from compliance to international marketing and sales, and his past positions included;

• Foundation member of Government "Quango" New Zealand Export Import Corporation which developed New Zealand's trade with centrally planned economies.
• Founder of first New Zealand international perishable logistics freight brokerage company in New Zealand (GoReefers).
• Supply Chain and Shipping Manager at Lowe Walker and then at Richmond Limited involved in
• Multiple freight agreements utilising offshore resources.
• Refrigerated logistics and compliance.
• Regional Manager for International Airfreight company specialising in seafood, fruit and meat products.
• International Marketing Agent into Europe, USA, Asia and the Pacific;

Murray's understanding of the Exporting environment and his drive to see Hawke's Bay companies develop and become successful exporting organisations is proving vital for Export Hawke's Bay to achieve it's objectives for 2009 and beyond.

Take a look at our new logo! This was developed to give Export Hawke's Bay a standalone image and to reflect the agricultural/horticultural nature of the Bay's exports. You will see it more and more around Hawke's Bay at events and on related literature.

• A well experienced local businessman recently had a close call with an export scammer.  Luckily he talked to the right people and managed to avoid what could have been a financially devastating situation.  If you have any queries, or an opportunity sounds too good to be true contact NZTE.  They provide a FREE service that looks into International company information.  For a fee they are also able to undertake credit checks.
