Exporting is one of the few activities open to Hawke's Bay businesses that can fundamentally and beneficially alter the region's economy. Export Hawke's Bay would like to help businesses gain a significant increase in local exports. While it is not easy, especially given recent exchange rate difficulties, it is definitely possible with good advice, planning and focused support.

If Hawke's Bay (and New Zealand) is to maintain or improve its standard of living it needs to increase the number of companies exporting. Exporting may not be warranted in all cases, however there are many examples where there is no option but to export, the burgeoning wine industry being a case in point. Here are some statistics to consider - in NZ just 151 companies generate almost 80% of merchandise exports and only 270 Hawke's Bay companies currently export.
